Whipstone Farms: Flowers, Squash & Microbes Featured

Microbes in your belly.

Big Idea

  • Zinnias are here, but waiting on dahlias
  • Tomatoes available this week
  • Squash. So. Much. Squash.
  • Think about fermentation!

Whipstone Farm has zinnias, squash and some tomatoes this week!

The zinnias are going crazy right now.  Still waiting on the dahlias though. We can do everything right, but mother nature is in charge most of (ok, all of) the time.

Our greenhouse tomatoes are winding down, and field tomatoes are not quite ready yet.  So, we will have tomatoes this week - but expect a lull after that. Again, was it us or the weather? I'm not even sure.

We are having a big sale this week on bags of summer squash.  We have so. much. squash right now.  Please come and take it off our hands.  Tons of other yummy veggies at the market this week, including some gorgeous salad mix (just a little bit proud of our summer salad mix right now), carrots, shishito peppers, cucumbers, (salmonella-free) onions and so much  more.

I was looking up a recipe recently in one of my favorite books - The Art of Fermentation by Sandor Katz.  If you want to get more microbes into your belly or just understand the beauty and fascination of fermentation, you should check it out.

with love from your farmers,
Shanti & the Whipstone Crew
