Forecast Discussion:

Hold on to your hats and beware of high pollen counts! It’s spring, and this time of year tends to be pretty windy here in the Prescott area. A cold upper-level trough will swing across northern Arizona tonight through tomorrow, creating strong pressure contrasts across the area. We will see very windy conditions this afternoon, with southwest gusts possibly over 50 mph.

Temperatures will become much cooler behind the trough, with highs in the upper 40s on Tuesday. Winds will shift gradually westerly to northwesterly on Tuesday, but they will still be strong, with gusts as 40 mph in the afternoon.

For the rest of the week, a ridge of high pressure will build and we will see a pronounced warming trend. Highs over the weekend will rise into the lower 70s. It will still be breezy at times later this week, with periods of high clouds and breezes on Thursday and again on Friday – Saturday as weak upper-level disturbances move through the ridge.
