It sure looks like Blake Masters will be the GOP candidate for the AZ US Senator
Blake Masters jumped out to an early lead in the GOP Senate race, and hasn’t looked back yet. He leads Jim Lamon by over 10% and it is doubtful that Lamon can overtake him. Lamon obviously considered Masters to be the biggest competitor, just look at the mailers he sent out. I’m not sure Lamon mentioned any other opponent besides Masters, and his campaign was all pretty dark and negative. Maybe politicians will figure out that the ultra-negative browbeating of your opponent often hurts more than helps.
Masters was endorsed by Trump and supported by Peter Thiel, a billionaire entrepreneur who co-founded PayPal, just for starters. But, lest you think that Masters is winning because he brought in and spent a lot of money, he didn’t come close to spending as much money as Lamon did.

So, to sum this up:
-
Masters received about a third of what Lamon did in total receipts
-
Lamon’s contributions to his own campaign was about 97% MORE than what Masters contributed to his own campaign
-
Masters received almost 4 times more than Lamon from individual contributors
-
Masters also had about three times as many donors as Lamon
-
Lamon spent 77% more than Masters
-
Masters ended up with three times as much cash on hand as Lamon did
-
Masters is leading Lamon by over 10%, 63,643 votes
There are a few lessons in those numbers, for anyone who wants to someday be a politician.
By the way, Blake Masters will be going up against Mark Kelly, who has a formidable war chest prepared. Kelly has $24,788,708.76 on hand already for the General Election.
