On 01/31/2023 at approximately 2:33 am, Yavapai County Dispatch received a 911 text message. The person sending the message stated Scot Haynes, age 49, who they have an active order of protection against, was at their residence and strangled them.

Chino Valley Police Officers responded to the 100 block of N. Fire Sky Lane. Officers saw lights on inside the residence and knocked on the door. Upon knocking on the front door, the officers could hear movement inside the residence and all the lights inside the residence were turned off.

Chino Valley Officers attempted to call the occupants outside using a PA system. After numerous attempts were not answered Chino Valley Police Department contacted Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office for assistance. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded and took over operations. After approximately four hours contact was made with the occupants and they exited the residence.

The female victim was treated for her injuries and the male subject, Scot Haynes, was arrested.

Scot was booked into Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office jail on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and interference with judicial proceedings.
