ACF Gives $10K Grant to Support Prescott Area Imagination Library Featured

The Friends of the Prescott Public Library accepted the ACF grant.

Big Idea

  • The Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County gave the Friends of the Prescott Public Library a $10,000 grant
  • The money is to be used to purchase books and postage for the Prescott Area Imagination Library (PAIL)
  • PAIL provides a monthly book by mail for children aged birth to 5 years old
  • There is no charge for families to sign up to receive their books

The Friends of the Prescott Public Library received an Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) of Yavapai County grant in the amount of $10,000 to use for the purchase of books and postage for Prescott Area Imagination Library (PAIL), an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. PAIL offers this service to children between birth and age 5 in Prescott area zip codes 86301, 86303, and 86305.

The program began in August 2019, and 465 children now receive monthly books in the mail. PAIL is a collaboration between Friends of the Prescott Public Library, library staff, and Prescott Area Rotary Clubs, the organizations that provide the majority of funding for books and postage. ACF of Yavapai County grant funding will be used to fund increased participation in PAIL over the coming year.

PAIL was also selected as an ACF “Shining Stars” project. View all of the Shining Stars projects on the ACF of Yavapai County Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/watch/AZfoundation.Yavapai/.  Videos that receive the most likes will receive additional funding from ACF.
