On November 17, 2021, Prescott Police Detectives arrested and booked the former Executive Director of the Prescott Downtown Partnership, Misti Smith.

The arrest comes after a lengthy investigation that started in October 2021 when the Prescott Downtown Partnership reported being the victim of fraudulent activity after the abrupt resignation of Smith. Through the course of the investigation, detectives found numerous instances of fraud, forgery, and theft that had taken place since the start of Smith’s employment with the Prescott Downtown Partnership in April of 2020. The value of the fraudulent activity has totaled over $200,000 in loss.

Smith, a 43 year old Prescott Valley resident, has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple charges to include Fraudulent Schemes, Forgery, Theft and Taking the Identity of Another.
