Celebrate Christmas at Sharlot Hall Museum after the parade

Prescott, AZ – Frontier Christmas will bring a warm holiday glow to the Sharlot Hall Museum this Saturday evening, December 3, with hot cider, cookies, Victorian-inspired crafts, and more. Families are invited to welcome the season in true Territorial style at this popular annual event.

Living History interpreters bring Prescott’s past to life as they portray frontier living in various historic buildings and settings. Visitors are invited to smell cookies baking in the Ranch House, admire the trimmings on the Governor’s Mansion tree, or step into the busy Print Shop to work the 1865 printing press and take home a Christmas poster or greeting card.

This year, a visit from Father Christmas himself will make the event extra-special. Guests may stop at the Transportation Building any time throughout the evening to greet him and receive a sweet treat in return (plus, the first 100 visitors will get a special gift from one of the event’s partners, Coca-Cola).

Victorian-inspired Christmas crafts give visitors young and old a chance to enter into the spirit of the season creatively, with fun projects to decorate their home and tree. Possibilities abound with hand-made ornaments, wreaths, and other holiday handcrafts.

The elegant Bashford House, home to the Museum Store, invites guests to complete their gift lists from an extensive selection of items such as books on Arizona history, handmade jewelry, Museum merch and apparel, homemade goodies, or traditional craft kits.

Frontier Christmas will run from 6 pm-8:30 pm on Saturday, December 3, immediately after the Courthouse Lighting Ceremony. Admission is $5 for adults, free for Museum members and youth 17-under, and is purchased at the door. More information is available at www.sharlothallmuseum.org.

The Sharlot Hall Museum, located two blocks west of Prescott’s Courthouse Plaza, is one of Arizona’s premier history museums. Its four-acre campus tells Arizona’s story through exhibits, gardens, and historic buildings, including the 1864 Territorial Governor’s Mansion. Events and programs include the annual Prescott Indian Art Market, Sharlot’s Cellar, monthly Living History Adventure days, and more.
