Motorcycle rider seriously injured in Friday collision

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident at Lake Valley and Florentine Roads in Prescott Valley. At about noon, a Ford SUV was travelling south on Lake Valley Road, preparing to turn east onto Florentine Road, when a motorcycle travelling north entered the intersection. The vehicle made a left turn and the motorcycle struck the SUV, causing the rider to fall to the ground.
The motorcycle rider, a male, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment. The rider was wearing a helmet and motorcycle jacket.
The driver of the SUV, a female, was not injured. Police cited her for failure to yield while making a left hand turn.
