The PV Town Clerk is now a Certified Municipal Clerk
Prescott Valley Town Clerk Fatima Fernandez has earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.
IIMC grants the CMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.
Fernandez began work as a Deputy Court Clerk at the Town of Prescott Valley in September 2015. She then joined the Town Clerk’s Office as a Deputy Town Clerk in May 2018 and was appointed Interim Town Clerk in early 2020 upon the retirement of longtime Town Clerk Diane Russell. Town Council appointed her Town Clerk in August 2020.
The International Institute of Municipal Clerks, founded in 1947, has 14,000 members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, and the mission of this global non-profit corporation is to enhance the education opportunities and professional development of its diverse membership.
IIMC Certification Manager Kellie Siggson stated in a letter of congratulations to Fernandez, “The CMC is more than a pin, a certificate and three letters at the end of your name. It is a declaration that you are proficient in your important position and that you have demonstrated mastery of administrative skills critical to good government.”
