- PV Police receive a call about a possibly injured Great Horned Owl
- An Animal Control Supervisor responds
- The owl is rescued
- The owl is then released to Raptor Rescue, a 501(c)3
Prescott Valley Police thanks all involved
On Wednesday, September 16th, 2020, the Prescott Valley Police Department’s Animal Control Unit received a call for a possibly injured Great Horned Owl located at a local business.
Animal Control Supervisor, Tim Yogerst, responded to the location, Yvonne’s Pet Grooming, to assess and pick up the bird. Yogerst transported the owl to the Prescott Valley Police Department where it was cared for until a rescue organization could be contacted and respond. Wild at Heart Inc. Raptor Rescue, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, responded to the Police Department to pick up the owl for rehabilitation and relocation.
The Police Department’s Animal Control Unit would like to encourage citizens to call the department’s non-emergency number or Arizona Game and Fish Department when encountering lost, misplaced or injured wildlife. Please do not attempt to catch or interact with injured wildlife. Wild animals may cause injury or act aggressively when injured or cornered. The Animal Control Unit would like to thank all citizens who call to report animals in need of help.
