Red Ribbon Week offers a way to unite and take a visible stand against drugs

The Prescott Valley Police Department supports Red Ribbon Week as an ideal way for people to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.  The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people during the Red Ribbon Week, October 23rd to October 31st each year. The theme for this year is: “Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free.”

Drug trafficking and drug use are still too prevalent in our community. Since September 10, 2020, Prescott Valley Patrol Officers made 36 drug arrests during traffic stops. Since August 18, 2020 there have been seven other overdose calls, with Narcan administered three times, thereby saving lives. Three of the calls resulted in death.  Drugs used continue to be methamphetamine, blue M30 pills, fentanyl, and heroin.

Drug dealers usually manufacture pills containing fentanyl to look like legitimate medication. Do not take non-prescribed medication or medicines from unknown sources.

Unused or unneeded prescription medications may be safely deposited in the Lobby of the Prescott Valley Police Department at 7601 E. Skoog Blvd, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.

If you or someone you know has a drug problem, there are options available for you! The Northern Arizona Crisis Line is available 24/7 at 877-756-4090. Drugs are not a victimless crime.

If you see or suspect illegal drug use or trafficking, immediately contact local law enforcement.
