What's Happening with the Monsoon? Featured

Wondering what the 2021 monsoon is going to look like? You’re not alone, so is everyone else!

Big Idea

  • 2020 was the driest monsoon on record for the Southwest
  • Monsoon season runs from June 15th - September 30th
  • Next week is Monsoon Awareness Week
  • Nobody knows what will happen with this year’s monsoon
  • Read and watch more...

Boil it all down, and the truth is that they don't what to predict.

Of course, nobody has a crystal ball to predict the weather. And in this case, the National Weather Service is saying that the precipitation amount has an equal chance to be normal, below normal or above normal. In other words, they just don’t know.

What the Weather Service is positive about is that temperatures are going to be higher than normal.

Monsoon season runs from June 15th to September 30th. Next week is Monsoon Awareness Week - and of course, we’d love to have some monsoon weather to celebrate!

For this week, expect gusty winds and higher temperatures throughout much of Arizona. That means the chances are high for wildfires to start.
