Chino Valley Police Officer has been discharged from the hospital  

On 11/01/2022 at approximately 7:52 a.m. a Chino Valley Police officer was involved in a two-vehicle collision in the 500 block of N. S.R. 89 in Chino Valley.

The officer was Southbound on S.R. 89 in a 2017 Ford Explorer fully marked patrol vehicle. A 2007 Jeep Liberty travelling Southbound was slowed due to traffic. The officer rear-ended the Jeep Liberty. 

The officer was stabilized on-scene and flown to a Deer Valley hospital. The officer has been discharged from the hospital and is on his way home to recover. The driver of the Jeep Liberty was treated on-scene and released.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety responded and is handling the investigation of the crash. The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time. Impairment is not a suspected factor.

S.R. 89 was closed between Center Street and Road 2 North for approximately 2.5 hours.
