Flagstaff Mayor & Council Candidates Answer Why Featured


The Arizona Daily Sun is giving the City Council and Mayoral Candidates a chance to answer a weekly question in no more than 150 words. This week, the question is: “What is the most important reason you are running for Flagstaff City Council?”

  • Council candidates will not be voted on until the November 3 General Election
  • Voters will also be voting on Prop 436 - the continuation of a 1% sales tax to fund local government operations

Charlie Odegaard: Loves Flagstaff and loves serving.
Jamie Whelan: Says he has experience, leadership and facilitation abilities, brings people together. Website:  jamiewhelanformayor2020.com

Becky Daggett: Has invested 25 years into making it a great place to live.
Anthony Garcia: 3rd generation Flagstaff son, wants to preserve cultural, environmental and ecological heritage. Holistic, well balanced approach to future development.

Eric Senseman: Says he will be a leader who will protect, promote and advance Flagstaf’s intrinsic values
Miranda Sweet: Important to add her voice to the Dias, she’s an NAU alumna, past teacher, a mother and a business owner
