AG Brnovich’s Office joined the Yavapai County Republican Committee in Court
PHOENIX - Attorney General Mark Brnovich's Office (AGO) argued before the Yavapai County Superior Court on Friday afternoon to compel the Arizona Secretary of State (SOS) to produce a lawful Elections Procedures Manual (EPM), which she has failed to do. An updated EPM is required by law and helps ensure consistency and integrity in the administration of Arizona’s statewide elections.
"Everyone must have confidence in our electoral process and that begins with having an Elections Procedures Manual that is consistent with the law," said Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich. "I will do everything I can to restore the public’s trust in our elections."
The AGO and the Yavapai County Republican Committee are asking the Yavapai County Superior Court to order the SOS to provide a lawful EPM, one that specifically includes rules regarding ballot signature verification, prohibitions on outsourcing any part of that process such as the use of unregulated artificial intelligence software, and requiring that all ballot drop boxes be appropriately staffed. General Brnovich filed the lawsuit last week. Read more here.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 2nd.
