September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and Prescott Public Library wants you to know that this is the perfect time to register for a card. Library services are free and available to all Yavapai County residents. The library issues about 300 cards each month and has nearly 25,000 cardholders. Our goal is to make sure everyone in Prescott, no matter their age, has a library card.

Throughout September, the library will celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month. The library will have library cards with a new design in keychain and wallet sizes. Thanks to the support of the Friends of the Prescott Public Library, there will also be incentives for you to come in and get a card!

  • The first 150 people to register for a card will get more cards: a deck of Prescott Public Library playing cards.
  • Bring a friend or family member in to get their card and you’ll get a Friends of the Prescott Public Library book bag.
  • Library staff have surprise celebrations planned for children who register.
  • We’ll have a fun photo booth to have your photo made after you register.

How do you get a card? It’s simple.

  • Check out details and online application here: https://www.prescottlibrary.info/services/library-cards-accounts/library-cards/
  • Visit the Check Out Desk on the 2nd floor of the library with a photo ID and proof of residency in Yavapai County.
  • A parent or guardian needs to accompany anyone under 16 to get a card. Even babies can have their own card!
  • Call 928.777.1524 for more information.

There’s nothing more empowering than a library card. Through access to books and other media, technology, online resources, and educational programs, libraries provide people of all ages the opportunity to pursue their dreams and passions.

This year’s spokesperson for the American Library Association’s National Library Card Sign-up Month, Marley Dias, says “A library card provides opportunity for discovery and access to a rich and diverse world. It empowers you to make change and experience new stories."

Prescott Public Library brings you the discovery of ideas, the joy of reading and the power of information.  Check the library's online events calendar at www.prescottlibrary.info, or call 928.777.1526 for more information.
