Location: Pine Mountain Wilderness – Verde Ranger District (T11N, R5E, SEC 35), sixteen miles east of Cordes Junction.

Summary: Ground and aviation resources were able to make progress on the Pine Fire yesterday as they attempted to secure the fires edge. Ground resources were able to utilize the type 3 helicopter to aid them with their efforts dropping water on the active portion of the fire.
The remote Pine Mountain Wilderness would present challenges to extract injured personnel if an incident were to occur. Contingency plans as well as a Fireline Medical Team are in place.
Resources: 1-Type 2 Hand crew, 1-Type Three Helicopter (Suppression, Aerial Reconnaissance, Logistical Support), 1-Fireline Medical Crew.
Weather: Near-record heat is being observed across the region this afternoon. Maximum temperatures ranging from 100-110 degrees, minimum relative humidity 10-15%, winds 10 MPH out of the Southwest. Hot and dry weather will continue into Friday and Saturday along with near record high temperatures.
Closures: Forest ordered closures are in effect as of July 27th. Fire managers and forest personnel will go in and evaluate the fire area to mitigate any hazard trees along the wilderness trail systems for public safety.
