Businesses are re-opening, vaccinations are happening and cases are declining

PRESCOTT, AZ (March 30, 2021) – In light of declining case counts, ongoing mass vaccination efforts, and recent executive orders by the Governor, Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli today rescinded the year-old City of Prescott Proclamation of Emergency, related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am pleased with the progress made by the citizens of Yavapai County, and the State of Arizona,” said Mayor Mengarelli. “After a full year, our businesses are finally able to reopen fully, and citizens can enjoy our special events and activities that make Prescott such wonderful place to live.  However, our work is not done. We will continue to monitor the situation, and I will stay in close contact with the Governor’s Office, and Yavapai Community Health Services, to monitor the situation.  We ask citizens to continue to be diligent about wearing masks in appropriate situations, social distancing, hand washing and all of the precautions that we have learned over the past year.”

On March 25, Governor Ducey issued executive order 2021-06, eliminating local mask mandates, and reduced occupancy for business like bars, restaurants, gyms and movie theaters.  The executive order also states that events over 50 person attendance no longer require approval from a municipality like the City of Prescott.
