Road construction is a drag while it’s happening. But when it’s done, it is so nice.

Hello from ADOT. This will be a very busy weekend for freeway closures as part of improvement projects. Please check the list and plan your travel in advance to try to avoid the heaviest traffic and delays this weekend. I-17 will be closed one direction at a time in north Phoenix (Happy Valley Road to SR 74/Carefree Hwy) - southbound primarily on Saturday and northbound on Sunday. Click the Weekend Travel Advisory Map for details. The pavement sealing work being done requires favorable (warm) temperatures. Here are some of the closures to prepare for:

• Southbound I-17 closed between SR 74/Carefree Hwy and Happy Valley Rd from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 6) for pavement sealing. Primary detour: West on SR 74, south on Lake Pleasant Pkwy and east on Happy Valley Rd.
• Northbound I-17 closed between Happy Valley Rd and SR 74 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday(Nov. 7) for pavement sealing. Primary detour: West on Happy Valley Rd, north on Lake Pleasant Pkwy and east on SR 74. Crews will work to reopen I-17 as soon as possible each day after the pavement treatment has time to set up (dry).
• Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Seventh St and SR 51 in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 8) for widening project. [Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 closed. Detour:] Consider using eastbound Union Hills Dr to northbound SR 51 or Tatum Blvd.
• Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) closed between Gilbert and Greenfield roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 8) for asphalt pavement removal. Detour: Consider using Baseline Rd or Southern Ave. Click the Weekend Travel Advisory Map for more information about these and other weekend closures.
