The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit is getting a new member!

Meet Skye, a 14-month old Malinios... She is the newest addition to YCSO’s awesome K-9 team.

Our K-9 unit works around the clock to keep our county safe. So far this year, they've seized nearly 400 pounds of dangerous drugs in 2021. This includes more than 240,000 fentanyl pills (estimated value of $4.8 million) and enough powdered fentanyl to make almost 5 million fentanyl pills. Our K-9s prevented meth, cocaine, and heroin from making it into our county and stopped them from trickling into the rest of the nation. In addition, more than 50 people are behind bars in connection with their hard work.

Skye is a drug detection dog. She has a great personality and lots of energy. She’s training right now but is expected to hit the streets by August.

“We want to thank all the volunteers who donated money to help us purchase Skye,” said Sheriff David Rhodes. “While we do want we can to protect the community, we couldn’t do it without the generous donations from people in our community.”

Welcome to the YCSO family. We can't thank you enough for your service. If you are interested in donating to the K9 unit, you can mail in a check to YCSO and make sure you put K-9 unit is the memo line.
